I'm really interested in Witch House as a genre, and an evolution of industrial music, and have a fleeting interest in the aesthetic thus far. I plan to start producing electronic music as a hobby at some point in the near future, and want to dabble in some of the sounds I've heard within the genre. However I'm not particularily interested in the occult, which seems to be a mainstay of the genre. Does this lack of interest disqualify me from potentially calling music I might make Witch House?

Hey, sounds like you have a great concept of how you want your music to sound, I’d suggest developing your music project to reflect those aesthetics and not concern yourself with tropes of any genre tags. We’re generally pretty against the limitations of categorization anyway. In the end that’s the real Witch House ethos, (and incidentally, true occult practice). Be true to thine own Will.

In short, it’s far more important to be sincere than to offer pretense of faux occultism. Though that seems a mainstay of the genre, the true core of Witch House is exploring your inner self and perhaps a comprehension and understanding of your darker side.

Thanks for your interest, feel free to share your project with us once it’s off the ground! Cheers!
